Remembering and Honoring
PDD Ronald Stephen Ambrose, LtCol, USMC (Ret)
On 9 December 2023, there was a Celebration of Life and Military Honors for Ronald Stephen Ambrose, LtCol, USMC (Ret). The event was held at Munden Funeral Home, 2112 Arendell St, Morehead City, NC 28557 at 1100. Visitation with the family was prior to his service. Ron was a longtime supporter of the Marine Corps League, Military Order of the Devil Dogs, and numerous other organizations. More importantly, Ron was a great friend to our members and their families. Ron had many accomplishments; he was the 2020 Kennel Pack Dog Robber of the Year, 2019 John Zak Pound Dog Robber of the Year, 2106 CWO3 Edward J. Albus Pound #370, Pound Dog of the Year, and 2016 NC Pack Dog of the Year. PDD Ron Ambrose was the driving force behind the Military Order of the Devil Dogs Change for Children. Each year he helped raise thousands of dollars for Children’s Hospitals. Fair Winds and Following Seas, you will be missed, but not forgotten. Semper Fi!
Please keep Ron's wife Jean and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

The Military Order of the Devil Dogs is the fun and honor society of the Marine Corps League.
WHAT IT DOES:
It promotes good fellowship among the members of the different Marine Corps League Detachments. The Order provides amusement and entertainment at all gatherings of the League, when and where advisable. It assists in the accomplishment of all programs and objectives of the League, preserves and strengthens the principles and ideals of the League, and maintains true allegiance to the United States of America and its Constitution and Laws. It fosters and extends American institutions of freedom and defends America against all enemies whatsoever. The Order is also very active in raising funds for different charities.
HOW TO JOIN:
You must be a paid-up member in good standing for a minimum of one year in the Marine Corps League. The applicant must be active in his or her Detachment for a minimum of one year in the League, and must request membership in the Order. He or she must be recommended by his or her Detachment Commandant and be sponsored by two Devil Dogs or Pedigreed Devil Dogs. The applicant is then interviewed by the members of the Pound at a Pound Growl. (A meeting is called a Growl.) If accepted, the applicant must undergo an initiation and swearing-in ceremony. Then he or she becomes a Pup in the Order.
DEVIL DOG’S CREED:
I am an American: I was born in France. I hold the title of United States Marine, and understand the commitment of holding the title, Devil Dog. It is a tradition born at Belleau Wood in the year 1918, of a Force In Readiness and the “First To Fight”. As a Devil Dog, I ask no quarter and give no quarter. I will do everything in my power to uphold the objectives of the Military Order of Devil Dogs and to carry out my duties to a swift and satisfactory completion. IT IS AN HONOR AND A PRIVILEGE TO BE A DEVIL DOG. WE ARE THE FUN AND HONOR SOCIETY OF THE MARINE CORPS LEAGUE. WE ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN QUALITY MEMBERSHIP, NOT IN QUANTITY MEMBERSHIP.
